Spreading the SPIRIT across the LONE STAR State
This group of volunteers is working to take an active role in organizing and conducting Ultimate events that develop personal responsibility and integrity among the youth of Texas. As we strive to meet this goal, Texas, Ultimate! commits to:

  • Deliver instruction regarding skills, etiquette, and strategy while actively encouraging new players.
  • Provide certified training to captains, coaches and sponsors.
  • Invest players with pride and responsibility for the success of Ultimate in our communities across the Lone Star State.

  • We host staff training sessions two or three times each year. Times and dates of training sessions are TBA, as needed for developing programs. Every applicant should report to the session with a completed Volunteer Application Form and be willing to consent to a criminal background check. Volunteers will sign a coaches contract which outlines program responsibility and time commitment. Volunteers will keep a log of certified volunteer hours.

    OUR YEAR AT A GLANCE

    Fall---
We will host 3-4 recruitment events around the state during the fall, beginning in October. Check our EVENTS page to participate in Columbus Day Ultimate (October) and the November Nines tournament. We hope that you will participate in those near you, and encourage players to come and learn/teach and share the sport with new players. On your campus, we wish that your will encourage new players to join a weekly Ultimate experience. The fall should be dedicated teaching and recruitment of players, in anticipation of a Winter League and our annual STATE Tournament in the spring.

    Winter---
We are planning to host league play during the winter months (January - March), in DFW area, Austin and Houston. Players will register as individuals and league teams will be drafted, considering experience height and gender. In the past, we have expected captains to bring a team to league play. however, we hope that drafting teams will help build teams on more campuses. Send a representative to league play! Take back to your school what you learn each week. Also, we hope that those who are playing college will return throughout the year to continue to build teams at your Alma Mater. College Players will be permitted to play as guest players, should they be in town for the weekend. Play will be hosted on SUNDAY afternoons, and cost will be minimal...about $40 per player. A team jersey and an Ultimate disc will be provided to league participants.

    Spring---
We will again host our annual STATE tournament in the spring. To encourage growth and learning, roster rules allow recent alumni to participate as players in this tournament. First year college players may return to play in the annual tournament for their ALMA MATER.

    Summer---
We will host camps and clinics in association with various Universities and Community organizations. High School Players may find summer volunteer/employment opportunities in developing youth Ultimate programs in their communities.
