LASA, Ultimate!
OCPE Waiver Program offers PE Credit for Ultimate Club
Ultimate Students and Physical Education Teachers have come together to develop a curriculum of Ultimate Frisbee that meets the State (Texas Education Agency) requirements for secondary physical education.
In 2008, this curriculum was developed with the support of the Ultimate Players Association through an Innovation Grant.
Ultimate players may register for OCPE if they wish to substitute after school Ultimate for their PE Credit during the regular school year; or if they want a course in Ultimate Frisbee on their transcript. The course is open to all boys and girls in 9-12 grades on the LBJ/LASA campus.
In AISD, High School Ultimate Programs will offer credit during the Spring Semester only. Students may take the course each spring semester, earning a total of 2 full credits for studying and practicing Ultimate. To meet the deadline for the Spring 2010 semester, potential students can apply for OCPE with their school counselor prior to the completion of the Fall Semester. COMPLETED waivers (available at the counselors office) must be submitted to the AISD OCPE office by MIDNIGHT on January 5th, 2010. Here is a link to the details of registration on the AISD website.
Ultimate at LASA was newsworthy on April 23, 2010 NEWS 8 in Austin...Beyond the Game.
To meet AISD hourly requirements, each club MUST meet 5 hours during the week. LBJ/LASA is meeting on Wednesday and Friday afternoons from 3:45-5:45pm. Additionally, class will meet on Saturday Afternoons from 2:00-3:15pm. Even if you are NOT a student in the OCPE program, you are cordially invited to attend and may plan to join us in our regular HIGH SCHOOL PIck-up Game , Saturday afternoons at 2pm at Zilker Park .
Presently, the course is only approved for the LBJ/LASA campus in AISD. However, we plan to add courses at Anderson High School and McCallum High School next year. It is also anticipated that Middle School Credit will be offered to 7th and 8th graders at Fulmore Middle school during the spring semester of 2010-2011 school year.

Date: Monday, October 19th
LOCATION : Austin High School
Time: 10am - 4pm
Cost: $14.92 per player
Bring: a light shirt, a dark shirt and appropriate footwear.
Drinks, snacks and an Ultimate disc will be provided to each player who registers by October 10.
To Register: Join the group (see the link below) and RSVP (BEFORE October 10th) that you will PLAY on Columbus DAY.

Join our Group
Players, coaches and parents are encouraged to join our communication group. Events are organized by a group of volunteers including parents, teachers and Ultimate Players. The annual fall recruiting events include Columbus Day Hat tournament and the November Nines tournament in Columbus, TX. We host a drafted winter league from Mid January to Spring break for High School Aged players (including rising eighth graders), and an Annual STATE TOURNAMENT in April.
Presently, players from the following schools are represented here and willing to schedule scrimmages:Austin Area Home Schoolers, McCallum High School, LASA at LBJ, Westlake High School, Cedar Park High School, Stoney Point High School, Westwood High School, Lake Travis High School. Please, let us know if we are missing your club in our listing.

"I HAVE A DREAM..."
YOUTH Forum and High School League ORGANIZATIONAL MEETING
VOLUNTEER COACHES AND TEAM CAPTAINS. Volunteer Coaches must be at least 18 years of age, and attend the entire three hours as a training session.
Please complete the Volunteer Application. Coaches who are 21 years of age on AISD Campuses are required to hold current CPR certification. We utilize a group of off-duty firefighters to earn CPR certifications. Here is list of available course times and locations Here is a link to the details of registration on the CPR Resources.
Schools represented included Anderson, McCallum, LASA and the Austin Area Home School group. Players are also registered from Bowie High School.
It was decided that we extend the deadline for registration until NEXT WEEK, January 24th, to encourage more participation.

Austin Area Ultimate Player Showcase
Open ELITE Ultimate Teams from across the country are gathering in Austin on May 15 and 16 to prepare for the World Tournament in Prague this summer.
The Austin Ultimate Community presents a SHOWCASE of Austin Area's finest Ultimate Players. For more information, check out the showcase flyer.
Fans are invited to House Park from 6:00pm - 9:30 pm on Friday, May 14th. EVERYONE is invited to spectate this showcase of top level ultimate.
